Passion. It's a difficult thing to possess. When juxtaposed with any milder degree of desire, the space between the two degrees seems to be irreconcilable. Passion requires change for an indefinite amount of time, a requirement greatly undesirable and frightening to any ordinary person.

It poses challenges that reach to the core of who one is, an identity that most wish not to confront for the sake of convenience and security. Passion thus requires one to be highly inconvenienced, requires one to sacrifice a great deal of security, and requires one to put into motion actions seemingly unsupported by the greater population. What is this perception of lack of support? Perhaps it grows from the irreconcilable space between passion and any milder degree of desire.
